Basketball fever is spreading throughout the nation. In addition to college basketball (rivalry week!), fans are now watching their NBA team and other teams closely to see who might still make it to the playoffs this year. Every year there are the predictable teams who make it, and then there are the surprise teams. Much like the Dallas Mavericks a few years ago, everyone watches with anticipation to see what may behold this year’s teams.
The Memphis Grizzlies, for example, are all too often disappointing, but they are in it this season. They have some really good starters like Mike Conley, Marc Gasol, and Zach Randolph that have vastly improved their squad and traded for veteran and former Piston Tayshaun Prince a couple weeks ago.
If you hold Detroit Pistons tickets you are probably aware of where they are. They are currently sitting in the No. 11 seed in the East at 20-33, 6.5 games back of the No. 8 spot. Due to the recent injury of Andre Drummond, the playoffs might be out of reach now.
The LA Clippers, who have the NBA’s 4th best record, might be the under the radar top dog teams, though. They brought in some proven vets with Grant Hill, Lamar Odom and Jamal Crawford, and Chauncey Billups should return soon. Even if they don’t take the West, with Blake Griffin on the team, they’re bound to be entertaining if nothing else.
It should be an interesting finish to the regular season and an even more interesting playoffs.
