Philadelphia native, Maalik Wayns went undrafted in the 2012 NBA draft this past summer, and is working hard to earn himself a roster spot on the new-look Philadelphia 76ers.
In his first three preseason games, Wayns averaged 13 points and 5 assists in zero starts.
His most impressive performance came on Oct. 13 in a 108-105 overtime loss to superstar Deron Williams and the Brooklyn Nets.
Wayns scored 18 points (60 percent from three) and committed only two turnovers in almost 24 minutes of play.
Wayns’ teammate, Nick Young described the rookie as a “mini John Wall” when on a fast break.
“He’s fast…once he gets in that open court you can’t stop him,” Young added.
Wayns is off to an impressive start, and has a lot more games left to prove that he not only belongs in the NBA, but can be an impact player in the league for a long time.
