The Positives:

  • Miles Plumlee: He has been extremely active around the basket as a defender and rebounder. His tenacious play has earned second-chance opportunities and erased sure baskets. He has also shown an array of post moves, including a baby hook that led him to start 2-3 from the field in game 2.
  • Orlando Johnson’s Scoring: He has shown an ability to score in a variety of ways and create his own shot including: 3-point shooting, transition buckets, pick & roll plays and multiple strong drives leading to fouls and baskets.
  • Orlando Johnson’s Story:  Seriously read what kind of hardship this guy has been through and just TRY not to be a fan.

  • First Round Pick Solomon Hill:  Not only did Hill play better in his second game (as expected of a rookie who is learning), but he received praise from Hall of Famer and Pacers’ President Larry Bird. Larry Legend praised the lack of mistakes by the young player. Hill scored from everywhere on the court and added solid defense/rebounding to help the Pacers to a win in day 2.
  • 3- Point Shooting in Game 2: The Pacers entire squad shot lights out from downtown () in the second game

The Negatives:

  • Jonny Flynn Still Struggling: Flynn got some play time and had a nice alley-oop, but struggled with decision making and shot selection- which is nothing new.
  • Plumlee’s Turnovers: The former Duke bigman played two good games, but had 4 turnovers in his second.
  • First Game Shot Selection: The entire team struggled with shot selection (besides the somewhat passive S. Hill) and forced way too many bad shots.  Not to say that not taking shots was a better alternative, but they were definitely forcing things too much

Key Stat Averages through 2 Games:

Miles Plumlee:  12.5 ppg, 12.5 rebs, 5 blks

Orlando Johnson:  15 ppg, 3 rebs, 2.5 asts
