NCAA Tournament Day 3 - Midwest Region

The Midwest Region saw both higher seeds win comfortably.

(4) Louisville over (5) Saint Louis 66-51

Louisville’s Luke Hancock scored 21 points on 6-15 shooting (attempting 12 threes). Russ Smith added 11 points. The Cardinals lead by nine at halftime, and built on that lead in the second half. The Billikens were lead by Dwayne Evan’s 16 points and 10 rebounds, along with Jordair Jett’s 15 points. Rob Loe (unfortunately not that Rob Lowe), had 10 points. Saint Louis went 0-15 from three.  Both teams combined for 37 turnovers. Louisville will play the winner of Wichita State-Kentucky.

(2) Michigan over (7) Texas 79-65

Four players scored in double digits for Michigan, lead by 17 points from potential first round draftee Nik Stauskas. The Wolverines were 50 percent from three, and held the Longhorns to 37 percent shooting. Texas guard Isaiah Taylor scored 22 points, but on 8-22 shooting. Michigan will play the winner of Tennessee-Mercer.
