In a series that had the Halos faltering from the mound and the plate, C.J. Wilson and Chris Nelson turned in great performances to help the Angels avoid a four game sweep. Wilson pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up only one run, while Nelson did his best Alfonso Soriano impression, driving in 5 runs. His grand salami in the 8th inning gave the Angels a 7 run lead, thus granting some relievers permission to fool around a bit before finally closing out the game.
Game Notes
–Mike Trout extended his on base streak to 37 games. Seriously what would we do without this guy?
–Mark Trumbo went hitless in 3 at-bats, his average now at .236. The question is would you rather have a streaky Mark Trumbo with a scorching hot first half, but then a horrible second half but still end up in the .260s, or a Mark Trumbo who sits around .250/.260 the whole season only to finish with an average in the .230s (assuming no further improvement)?
–Grant Green continued his recent hot streak going 2 for 4 with a double. He is now 5 for his last 9 at-bats with one walk. Hey lets hope it continues.
Halo Hero of the Game
Chris Nelson. 5 Ribeyes. He earned it.
