Heidi Watney called in to 98.5 The Sportshub’s Toucher and Rich Show to respond to all the drama surrounding the Red Sox right now and a twitter flame war that got started in response to Felger mentioning her by name and pulling her into the drama on the radio on Wednesday.
Watney tweeted the following in response to hearing Felger on the radio on Wednesday:
“If Felger was ever in the clubhouse he might be able to talk about the team with some knowledge rather than just repeting rumors. Felger is completely off base on just about everything he is saying. Ridiculous and irresponsible.”
It seems that Felger was repeating the old, played rumor that Watney was involved with Jason Varitek years ago. Good to know that Felger can’t find any new material, so he just goes back to the well with that stuff.

I’m personally a big fan of Heidi Watney and what she brings to NESN. I’ve been able to meet her a few times at some Sox events and she’s always been really fan friendly. She also responds to fan tweets on twitter more than anyone else I’ve seen involved with Sox media. I think we’re really lucky to have her at NESN and I hope the rumors of her leaving for bigger and better opportunities aren’t true.
I do agree with Heidi that it is unfortunate with all the rumors flying around Boston. Why are we spending so much time talking about fried chicken? It does seem like the media is taking a turn for the TMZ and that is so disappointing. If there is a story, I want it reported, but if it is just rumor and character assassination, then I’d rather not hear it.
