Brook Lopez and Kevin Garnett, former rivals, are now teammates in the Brooklyn frontcourt

Before his short stint as the head coach of the Nets from 2010-12, Avery Johnson was an ESPN talking head for two years following his firing from the helm of the Mavericks. Now, about nine months after being dismissed from Brooklyn, Johnson has returned to the Worldwide Leader as an analyst for its NBA programming. He will appear on the myriad of NBA-focused shows that ESPN's family of networks air throughout the season which will make his coverage of the Nets interesting. Will Avery harbor angry feelings for the way he was booted from Brooklyn?

Moving on, the Nets got some good news recently regarding one of their Eurostashes. Bojan Bogdanovic, the Croatian forward Brooklyn traded for on Draft night in 2011, will become a free agent this summer as his deal with the Turkish side Fenerbache Ulker expires in July. This is really good for the Nets as it means that they will finally have the chance to negotiate with and possibly sign the much-hyped shooter for the 2014-15 season.

Finally, noted tough guy Kevin Garnett gave his new teammate Brook Lopez about as big a compliment as Garnett gives other players. Speaking in deference to Brook's skill level as a center, Garnett–according to ESPN New York's Ohm Youngmisuk— said: "I've never played with a center whose skill level is at this [Brook's] point…I've obviously played with greats, but to the point where he's young and still hasn't peaked yet." High praise from someone who has been around the league as long as Kevin has.
