The Nets have lost their last two games, defeats to the Hawks and Cavaliers that were both by more than 20 points and both at home. Now, Brooklyn is three games under .500 and is without Brook Lopez for a few more games and won’t have Joe Johnson (flu) tomorrow night in Chicago against the Bulls.
Johnson missed the Cavaliers game and his illness is preventing him from traveling with the team to the Windy City. Mirza Teletovic (hip) is also questionable so it’s possible the Nets won’t have three of their biggest scorers against a stout defensive team in the Bulls. A 8-12 record is all of a sudden looking more and more likely.
In bigger potential news, an ESPN report from earlier today said the Nets have put their three top players–Brook, Joe and Deron Williams–on the trade block and are listening to as well as sending out offers to other teams. Clearly the Nets have disappointed so far this season but massive trades this early? Wasn’t expecting that.
Still, a report like one still signifies just due diligence measures for Billy King so it doesn’t mean a deal in imminent in any way. What it does say, though, is that major change to this organization just might happen in the next few weeks and months up until February’s trade deadline. If the winning doesn’t come soon, such measures couldn’t be disagreed with.
