Netlinked 2/17/13: Nets interested in J.J. Hickson, Brook Lopez loses in Shooting Stars, Gerald Green loses in the Dunk Contest
Brook Lopez, trying to avenge his loss in the Sears Shooting Stars competition last night on All-Star Saturday, will suit up for the Eastern Conference this evening at the Toyota Center in his first-ever All-Star appearance

We start off a jampacked All-Star edition of Netlinked with some non-All-Star, but Nets-crucial, news. Brooklyn is now being linked to yet another power forward that is reportedly being shopped by his team, which is the third we have heard (after Josh Smith and Paul MIllsap) regarding the Nets this season. That player is J.J. Hickson of the Portland Trail Blazers, whom a report from Stefan Bondy of the Daily News cites as a target of the "increasingly desperate" Nets, who appear to want to make some sort of trade in the worst of ways. Hickson is probably the most reasonable target Billy King has because Portland has dangled him in trade speculation for awhile now and because he isn't of the same star caliber as Smith and Millsap.

Moving onto All-Star Weekend matters, the Nets' only participant in Saturday night's (and Friday night's for that matter) festivities was Brook Lopez, who in the newfangled Sears (no longer Haier) Shooting Stars competition, was teamed up with former NBAer Muggsy Bogues and WNBA star Tamika Catchings. Lopez' squad was eliminated in the first round, as they were highly efficient until the last shot (the half-court shot) which took Lopez, Bogues, and Catchings seemingly forever to hit, until Brook hit it. Unfortunately, it was too late as that team's time was beaten out by the other Eastern Conference team's, led by Chris Bosh. That team would go on to beat the Western Conference's trio of Russell Westbrook, Maya Moore, and Robert Horry.

We also saw former Net and current Pacer Gerald Green in the Sprite Slam Dunk, who finally re-appeared in the Contest after winning it back in 2007. However, his reverse slam was upstaged by one by Terrence Ross, which had the Raptors rookie leapfrogging the son of Twitter CEO Dick Costolo to throw it down.

Also, Brook Lopez is in tonight's All-Star Game, making his debut appearance. Good luck Brook!
