Netlinked 5/11/15: Bojan and Mirza want to stay in Brooklyn, NBA Draft at Barclays

Since the Nets were eliminated by the Hawks in Game 6 of their first round Eastern Conference postseason matchup, there hasn’t been a whole ton of news surrounding the team, possibly outside of former Net Paul Pierce’s heroics to lift the Wizards over the Raptors and possibly over the Hawks as well.

However, there are inklings that rookie Bojan Bogdanovic–who could be involved in any trades the pseudo-rebuilding Nets may make this offseason–doesn’t want to leave Brooklyn, as does Mirza Teletovic, who is a free agent this summer.

According to a translated interview shared with NetsDaily, Bojan said he “feels great in Brooklyn” and would rather stay with the Nets than be traded to a new team. He’s still on the original contract the Nets lured him away from Europe with but it’s always nice to hear that players–especially on a team without any year-to-year continuity–are buying in.

Same goes for Mirza, who missed much of this season with a scary health issue involving blood clots in his lungs but returned for the Hawks series. Brooklyn surely wants to bring the sharpshooter back, and he wants to return, but the two sides will have to agree on a deal to make that happen. Bringing those two back on relatively team-friendly terms is certainly one of Billy King’s offseason priorities.

In some Barclays Center news, the NBA Draft will be held at the Nets’ home stadium for the third-straight season, after a few seasons at Newark’s Prudential Center–former home of the New Jersey Nets–and many at Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden–the home of the Knicks. Too bad the Nets won’t be involved in the first round until the 31st overall pick.
