Nets sign Damion James to 10-day contract for some roster depth

Damion has flipflopped between Atlanta and New Jersey so far in his career, and now he's in Brooklyn

In an attempt to bring another healthy forward into the mix, the Nets have officially signed Damion James to a 10-day contract, a move announced this morning by the team. Originally drafted in 2010 by the Hawks, James (the 24th overall selection) was immediately dealt on draft night to the Nets for the rights to the 27th pick (Jordan Crawford, now on the Wizards) and the 31st pick (Tibor Pleiss, who is playing is Spain right now).

After spending the last two seasons in New Jersey with the Nets, both of which were cut extremely short due to severe injury problems, James, a standout at the University of Texas, was traded back to the Hawks this past summer in the Joe Johnson trade. Without having played a game for Atlanta, he was waived on October 27th just to head down to the D-League soon after to play for the Bakersfield Jam. Now, he's in Brooklyn with the Nets and may even suit up for tonight's game vs the Pacers at the Barclays Center. In the 32 games he played for the Nets from 2010-2012, the Texas native averaged 4.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per games. You can follow him on Twitter @KONJames10.
