New Offensive Line coach has the resume, but its his ‘puzzle fit’ that gives the most optimism

Pat Morris of the Minnesota, correct that, of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has seen his share of success. So did the last few guys who held the position.

Like the others, Morris’ resume is filled with success stories. He has runners like Garrison Hearst, Adrianne Peterson getting 1,000 yard seasons, hes put so many OLineman in the Probowl, and he has had 3 of the NFL’s top Rushing attacks in the last decade and a half.

All that is nice, but pales in comparison to the way Pat Morris is a piece of the Bucs offensive puzzle that is the only one left to be fit in.

And fit he does.

Morris has been on a sideline before, and he shared that sideline with Bucs offensive coordinator Greg Olsen. They roamed the field together on the Detroit sideline in 2005 when Olsen was the Lions OC.

The hiring leads credence to the suspicions that Olsen wanted ‘his guy’ in after it was reported players were unhappy with previous OL coach Pete Mangurian who was an old school disciplinarian. Olsen was given the OC position when the Bucs fired their coordinator only ten days before the regular season in 2009.

Now that Olsen is a legit OC here, and hes not going anywhere, it’s been thought he wanted a new OL coach that will mesh with his philosophies.

The Bucs have a very young offensive line now, and it could get younger if Jeremy Trueblood is let go for James Lee or Jeff Faine is not brought back for Jeremy Zuttah.
