News and Notes : A-Rod Drops Suit, Sochi-Bound Plane Hijacked and Kris Letang

A-Rod Drops Lawsuit against MLB, Players Union and Bud Selig : After being suspended for 211 games for violating MLB’s performance enhancing drugs for his involvement with the Miami-based Biogenesis clinic, New York Yankees third basemen, Alex Rodriguez dropped his lawsuit against MLB, the players union and commissioner Bud Selig after attempted to overturn his suspension.

Sochi-Bound Airplane Hijacked, Lands In Turkey. An unidentified Ukrainian man attempted to hijack a Pegasus Airlines commercial flight from Ukraine to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.  The man claimed to be armed with a bomb, would be taken into custody in Istanbul.  Already embroiled in controversy over it’s treatment of stray dogs and gays and lesbians, a passenger attempted to bound the Turkey-bound flight full of over 100 passengers adds another black eye to an already under-whelming Olympic games.

Pens D Kris Letang Suffers Stroke, Out 6-8 Weeks : In a truly unexpected turn of events, Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang suffered a stroke last week.  For the season, Letang has ten goals and 18 assists for the East-leading Penguins.  per reports, Letang is being treated with blood thinners and will not likely be career-threatening.
