Men’s Soccer

Last Sunday (9/3), TSUN topped the Buckeyes in two overtimes by a score of 3-2 last Sunday, dropping to 4-6-1 on the season and 0-2-0 in the Big Ten.   Chris Hegngi, last year’s Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, paced Ohio State with five shots and scoring his first goal of the year. After going into halftime tied at one, the Wolverines gave Ohio State a 2-1 lead off an own goal, but tied it at 2 seconds later.  After missed opportunities by both teams in the first overtime, UM finally capitalized on a penalty kick to win the game in the second OT.

Women’s Soccer

Ohio State tied Wisconsin last Sunday (9/30) 0-0 in two overtimes at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium last Sunday, leaving the Buckeyes with a 7-4-1 overall record and a 2-2-1 Big Ten record.  The Buckeyes held a 15-12 shot advantage, including 6-2 on goal. Tiffany Cameron led the way for Ohio State, finishing with 5 shots including 4 on goal.

Field Hockey

Last Sunday (9/30), the No. 18 Buckeyes were edged 2-1 by the No. 11 Iowa Hawkeyes 2-1.  After trailing 1-0 for the majority of the game, the Hawkeyes were able to score two goals in the game’s final ten minutes to come up with the win.  Freshman Peanut Johnson scored the lone Buckeyes’ goal in the first half at 27:59 to give her team the 1-0 lead, but they did not find the goal again, despite finishing with a 6-5 advantage in shots. The Buckeyes then fell to No. 20 Michigan State on Friday (10/5) in a 1-0 contest at Buckeye Varsity Field despite finishing with a 14-4 shot advantage.  The Spartans scored the game’s lone goal less than five minutes into play.  In the second half, Ohio State led MSU 12-2 in shots, but could not find the goal. The loss dropped the Buckeyes to 8-5 overall and 1-2 in the Big Ten.

Women’s Volleyball

The No. 21 Buckeyes defeated No. 19 Illinois 3-2 at Huff Hall in Champaign on Friday night (10/5).  The win improved OSU’s record to 12-5 and 3-2 in the Big Ten.  Kaitlyn Leary finished with 14 kills and 5 digs for the Buckeyes, while teammate Mari Hole finished with 13 kills, 8 digs and 2 block assists.  Then, the Buckeyes defeated Northwestern on Saturday (10/6) in straight sets, winning 3-0.
