It’s not much, but it’s better than, “He’s dead. His shoulder exploded and killed him on the spot.”
On his Monday evening radio show, team president Bill Polian said it appears Addai did not suffer “a separated shoulder or anything like that” when he was hit by Redskins linebacker London Fletcher.
“That’s kind of the good news,” Polian said. “They’re doing more tests and we’ll know more later in the week.”
The bye week provides an opportunity for Addai and several other players dealing with injuries to perhaps be available for when they return to action Nov. 1 against the Houston Texans.
“It seems like these first six games we’ve had a lot of guys get banged up,” said left tackle Charlie Johnson, who has missed one game and several practices while dealing with a sprained right foot suffered during training camp. “I figure the bye couldn’t have come at a better time for us.
