Hey, how about this…the power ranks are ready before the Thursday game starts. To back up Ryan’s post from Monday, his logic tells him the Cardinals are the best team in the NFL, and the computerized power ranks back up his claim. Yes, somehow, the Kevin Kolb led Arizona Cardinals are the #1 team, followed by the other 2 3-0 teams remaining, the Falcons and Texans. The ranks are telling us that the top 2-1 teams are the #4 Bears and #5 Giants. The 49ers, who got shocked by the Vikings, fell to #9, while the Chargers fell to #8 after losing to the Falcons.
On the bottom side of things, in a surprise to most, the 0-3 Saints are the lowest ranked team. This weekend they play the 1-2 Packers, which means either both the Saints and Packers will be 1-3 or the Saints will be 0-4. The Browns, who at least can be a little feisty, are #31 as the other 0-3 team. The Panthers destruction on Thursday night dropped them 11 spots to #30, while the Colts and the Raiders (who actually won this week) round out the bottom 5.
Early in the season, there are lot of big movers. The Vikings win over the Niners moved them up 12 spots to #10. The Cowboys and Bengals both jumped 10 spots as well. The biggest losers were the above mentioned Panthers and the Packers, who dropped 10 spots thanks largely to the refs that may have been fired from the Lingerie Football League.
