Our long national nightmare is over. The lockout is over and football is back! The NFL owners ratified the new CBA last Thursday and the NFLPA announced today that they have agreed to the terms of the new deal as well. With the lockout ending, camps will be starting soon.
The schedule has been released and it has the NFL team facilities opening their doors on Tuesday for players to come in and work out. Training camps will begin in the days that follow.
Which day the teams enter camps is dependent upon when they play their first preseason game. As part of the new CBA, training camp is not allowed to begin more than 14 days prior to their first game. The Raiders’ first preseason game versus the Arizona Cardinals happens August 11, which has the Raiders camp beginning this Wednesday, July 27, along with several other teams.
Other camps will begin Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
I will be arriving at Raider training camp next week to cover all the goings on, and will be tweeting all the happenings at practice as I see them. Follow me @LeviDamien.
