The New England Patriots are expected to sign free agent quarterback Tim Tebow to a contract and “expect him to be in minicamp tomorrow,” according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.
The terms of the contract are currently undisclosed.
Tebow has had a rocky NFL career with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, after starring at the University of Florida while leading the Gators to two national championships.
He has yet to find consistent success in the NFL, as his throwing mechanics and accuracy have been a major issue for him. Despite this, he did have an excellent end to the 2011 season with Denver while leading the franchise to a playoff victory over the heavily-favored Pittsburgh Steelers.
The momentum did not continue with New York and constant quarterback uncertainty in the Big Apple served as a major distraction for the Jets.
After the Jets finished the 2012 season a disappointing 6-10, Tebow was released. After it appeared that no NFL team was interested in his services, Tebow was widely expected to go to the Canadian Football League or the Arena Football League.
Fortunately for Tebow, that will not be the case as the Patriots have given him another opportunity in the NFL.
