I’m late with the picks again. I was correct with the Packers-Cowboys game so I’ve started Week 13, 1-0. Overall, I’m 103-63.
Let’s get started.
Buffalo at Washington – CBS, 1 p.m.
This will be an emotional game as it will mark the first game since we all learned about Sean Taylor’s death. The Redskins loved his presence in the locker room. All players can wear a “21” decal on their helmets to honor the memory of the Redskins’ safety. Usually, emotional games such as these can backfire as teams have a tendency to come out flat, but I believe Joe Gibbs whose comeback to the NFL has been less than stellar, will have the right words for his men today. I’ll take Washington to win, 17-13.
Jacksonville at Indianapolis – CBS, 1 p.m.
To be honest, this game should have been in primetime, but CBS protected this game and prevented NBC from taking it. You have a Jags running attack that is now running (pun intended) on all cylinders. Indy is banged up. The first matchup was a Colts runaway, but since that Monday Night meeting, the Jaguars are greatly improved plus when you have Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor in your lineup, it’s a big plus. David Garrard has not thrown an INT for his team since the season began. I like the Jags today. I’ll take them to win over the Colts, 26-21.
Houston at Tennessee – CBS, 1 p.m.
The Texans are looking at the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. And they take on a Tennessee team that misses Albert Haynesworth. Who knew that his injury would cost this team some victories. Ever since he’s been out, the Titans have been 0-3 and they need his presence in the middle to stop the run. Ron Dayne will be getting the ball today and the Texans will need him to have a good day. Take the Texans to win, 23-6.
Thanks to the fact my computer went down in the middle of writing this and I lost an entire section, I’ll have to do the rest quick pick style.
Jacksonville at Indianapolis – CBS, 1 p.m.
I’ll take the Jags to beat a depleted Colts team, 26-21.
New York Jets at Miami – CBS, 1 p.m.
The Dolphins finally get off the schnide, Miami wins, 24-7.
Detroit at Minnesota – Fox, 1 p.m.
Adrian Peterson is back, but won’t start. Chester Taylor will. The Lions are in trouble. Vikings over the Lions, 31-14.
Atlanta at St. Louis – Fox, 1 p.m.
Rams had a chance to win over Seattle last week and should have. They’ll win today, 29-12.
Seattle at Philadelphia – Fox, 1 p.m.
Donovan McNabb is available, but he won’t start. Take the Iggles today, 24-13.
San Francisco at Carolina – Fox, 1 p.m.
I want to pick no one in this game, but I’ll take the Niners today, 13-9.
Denver at Oakland – CBS, 4:05 p.m.
I took Oakland to get its first division win in three years last week, but they won’t get their second today. Denver to win, 27-3.
Cleveland at Arizona – CBS, 4:05 p.m.
I’ll go with my Browns to win in the desert, 35-17.
New York Giants at Chicago – Fox, 4:15 p.m.
The Giants are collapsing in the second half again. Don’t kick it to Devin Hester. Don’t. Don’t. Don’t. But somehow, he’ll find a way to run one to the house. Chicago, 23-15.
Tampa Bay at New Orleans – Fox, 4:15 p.m.
Take the Saints at home as Jeff Garcia is doubtful. I’ll take New Orleans, 28-20.
Cincinnati at Pittsburgh – NBC, 8:15 p.m.
The Steelers will win over a porous Bengal defense, 28-14.
New England at Baltimore – ESPN, 8:30 p.m.
Did Philadelphia give the blueprint to beat the Patriots? Yes, but Baltimore can’t do it. Take the Pats, 39-10.
Just got this in under the wire. See you.
