After being cut by the Cleveland Browns, the Oakland Raiders claimed wide receiver Greg Little off waivers Monday morning.
Considering that the Browns signed Miles Austin and Earl Bennett and Little’s off-the-field issues and history of drops, Cleveland decided to release the former 2011 second-round pick out of North Carolina, as he has struggled in the past, but has lots shown flashes of potential.
It certainly didn’t take long time for Little, who averaged 55 catches in his three seasons and tally 1,821 receiving yards, 155 receptions and eight touchdowns.
Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie appears to be insistent on finding targets for Matt Schaub and second-round pick Derek Carr to throw to. Considering their receiving corps features James Jones, Denarius Moore, Rod Streater and undrafted free agent Mike Davis.
In my opinion, this addition by the Raiders will do nothing for Oakland’s offense, whether it’s lead by Carr or Schaub. It’s a low-risk high-reward move for the Silver and Black as Little’s yearly $753,750 salary makes this a very worthwhile gamble, given the fact that Little won’t be assured of a roster spot for a team with a crowded–if unsettled– receiver corps.
