3. Sam Darnold

The only reason that Sam Darnold isn’t ranked lower is that he had two weeks off to rest. Darnold has been, how do I say this? Awful lately. His last appearance on the field, he threw for zero touchdowns and four interceptions. While that’s not a pretty stat line by any means, we have still seen some flashes from Darnold that don’t make us think he’s a dud.

It’s evident that Darnold hit the rookie wall first this season. He’s been inconsistent and cooled off a lot since his first few solid weeks. He’s a rookie, and we understand that there’s no other way around it.

The Jets should be happy with what they have under center for the future. They have problems that are bigger than Darnold. One is that the talent around him isn’t all that great. And two is that his coaching staff will most likely change at some point this season. And if not this season, then definitely during the offseason.
