It seems like the Cleveland Browns savior took a step back this week. Mayfield displayed some struggles last week, but it wasn’t enough to take him out of the No. 1 spot. This week though, he has been dethroned.

Mayfield is displaying some growing pains in Cleveland, which is totally normal for a rookie quarterback to have. He’s not the first rookie in 2018 to deal with that, and he surely won’t be the last. The tough thing about Mayfield’s situation is that the Browns have him throwing over 40 times a game every week.

For a rookie quarterback, that’s not ideal. The Browns are struggling to find a balance, and everything is being put on the rookie. While Mayfield has displayed the ability to put the team on his back, he can’t always do it alone.

It looks like the Los Angeles Chargers were too much for Mayfield to handle on Sunday, as he threw two interceptions with his worst passing performance to date. Again, not the end of the world for Mayfield. But the past two performances for the rookie haven’t been stellar enough to keep the top spot.
