5. Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson still hasn’t beat out Joe Flacco for the starting position, but the Baltimore Ravens are utilizing him a lot more week after week. I may have an unpopular opinion here, but I have to share. I’m not a big fan of the way the Ravens utilize Jackson. They bring him out under center for strictly run plays, and nine times out of ten it fails.

There’s absolutely no threat in bringing out a quarterback to strictly run the football. It’s obvious, and barely useful. On Sunday, Jackson logged a season-high of five rushing attempts. He averaged 2.0 yards-per-carry for a total of 10 yards. Unless it’s 3rd and 2, how is that useful?

At this point, I’m just waiting for the Ravens to line Jackson up as a wide receiver. Many teams were skeptical about Jackson’s quarterbacking abilities, but are the Ravens secretly thinking that about him? Whatever it is, they need to stop with the “trickery.” Either let him throw to be more of a threat when he comes out onto the field, or don’t play him at all unless you need to.
