This past weekend, we got to see the highly-anticipated duel between two former Texas Tech QB’s in Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes. After their Oklahoma versus Texas Tech showdown in college, where they both passed for an insane amount of yards, everybody expected a somewhat, repeat performance.

Remember though, this is the NFL. The defenses are much better. Mahomes and the Chiefs took home the win, while Baker Mayfield is dealing with some struggles on his end. It’s not necessarily Mayfield’s fault that the Browns offense is struggling. I mean, his offensive coordinator and head coach just got fired a week ago.

For a rookie that just spent an entire offseason learning from them, it’s going to be a tough adjustment period. Plus, Mayfield is getting killed, courtesy of his offensive line.

He was missing a small amount of time due to injuries, and somehow, Mayfield still put up a stellar performance. It’s unfortunate that the Browns are still a lousy team, but at least the quarterback position is the least of their worries right now. That’s different.
