NFL Round-up: McNabb Wants Redskins to Sign Owens; Vikings Re-Sign Jackson; Philly Continues to Investigate Shooting Potentially Involving Marvin Harrison; and More

With the 2010 NFL draft a little over 48 hours from commencing, teams around the league are gearing up to improve their rosters.  I’ve sifted through the rumor mill this morning and compiled a list of recent happenings and league gossip for your enjoyment.

  • Apparently, once wasn’t enough for Donovan McNabb.  The star quarterback who was recently traded to the Redskins, is pleading his case with Washington’s management to sign Terrell Owens.  To say their courtship in Philadelphia ended on a sour note would be a comical downplay of the situation.  Granted, the duo led the Eagles to just their second Super Bowl appearance in franchise history, but the fallout that ensued may be scaring the Redskins away from considering Owens.

  • The Minnesota Vikings did the un-thinkable yesterday, and actually re-signed a quarterback during the off-season.  The fact that any quarterback is even willing to talk to them at this point, as opposed to just meandering his way back to the team once off-season workouts, summer camps and any other hard work is over with, must have been a breath of fresh air.
  • Philadelphia police continue to investigate a shooting in which former Colt WR Marvin Harrison remains a prime suspect.  This news must be a bit infuriating to Aaron Rogers, who has been waiting quite awhile now to be the leagues most recognized star, clad in a hideous mustache.

  • If you missed it the other day, former Bucs and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden conducting some great interviews with the top four quarterback prospects in this years draft.  I use the term “quarterback” losely, as Tim Tebow was included in the group.  Just ask Mel Kiper Jr., and he’ll tell you that in a few years Tebow will be a great “h-back”, a term he uses with such conviction you’d think Mel invented the position.  At least Tebow has a few options to fall back on if he can’t cut it in the NFL.

  • Finally, Matt Millen just cannot seem to admit defeat.  As I wrote yesterday, the Lions traded LB Ernie Sims to the Eagles.  Sims is viewed by some as one of Matt Millen’s draft failures.  On a day where Ricky Williams and Percy Harvin are struggling to remember they even play football, Millen doesn’t need illegal substances, as he’s apparently still high on Sims.
