NFL: Saints WR Brandin Cooks Placed on Injured Reserve, Out For Season With Wrist Injury

The New Orleans Saints have lost their top wide receiver for the rest of the season in Brandin Cooks.

Cooks, the first-round draft pick out of Oregon State was placed on the season-ending injured reserve ending his season, per ESPN’s Field Yates. Cooks was injured in Sunday’s 27-10 loss to the Bengals. The first diagnosis on Cooks’ injury was that he suffered a broken thumb that would force him to miss two to four weeks.

Additional testing revealed that Cooks’ injury is more significant than previously believed, as Yates reported that Cooks also suffered a wrist injury. Cooks ends his rookie year with 53 catches for 550 yards and three touchdowns, seven rushes for 73 yards and one touchdown, 10 punt returns for 35 yards and one kickoff return for 12 yards.
