5th seed vs. 4th seed: Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
This potential playoff matchup is the most intriguing as of right now. Both the Panthers and Eagles are playing tremendous football in all three phases of the game.
The Panthers are led by their stingy defense that can get pressure just by their front four alone. They also have an all-pro linebacker in Luke Kuechly who is the leader of the defense but is a playmaker. The offense is also good with quarterback Cam Newton finally progressing and becoming an elite quarterback.
Also you can’t overlook his weapons in Steve Smith, Ted Ginn Jr., Brandon LaFell, Greg Olsen, and DeAngelo Williams. All of these players have helped the Panthers get to a 7-3 record. The Panthers are currently riding a six game winning streak.
As I stated before the Philadelphia Eagles have been surging as of late as well. Quarterback Nick Foles has been playing outstanding football throwing 16 touchdowns and zero interceptions. As a fan you can’t ask for nothing better than that. His favorite target in wide receiver Riley Cooper has stepped up as well becoming the Eagles number two wide receiver.
Finally, you can’t overlook the Eagles defense as it has been holding opponents in the past several games under 21 points. The defense is also winning the turnover battle thanks to second year stud cornerback Brandon Boykin who has four interceptions on the season and caught one of those versus the Redskins on Sunday.
This game if it happens has the possibility to be one of the best wild card games.
