Best Game: Seattle at N.Y. Giants – I know the Seahawks have been less than stellar this year, but they finally get healthy at wide receiver with the returns of Deion Branch and Bobby Engram, which should help a struggling passing attack (22nd in the NFL). Also, Mike Holmgren’s team had their “bye week” last Sunday, allowing the head coach to make necessary adjustments to his squad. Thus far, the Giants have proven that last year’s super bowl victory was no fluke, and currently lead the best division in football. This is a pivotal game for the Seahawks if they want to prove they are still contenders in the NFC.
Most Intriguing Game: Tampa Bay at Denver – This one will be Defense versus Offense. Although the Bucs have averaged 25 points a game this year, they are still led and carried by their defense. Meanwhile, until last week, Denver was the hottest offensive team in the league. However, as K.C. finally showed, the Broncos can’t stop anybody on defense. The Broncos get the advantage of playing this game in the Rocky Mountains, but starting with this game, we’ll see just how good Mike Shanahan really is, as he must make immediate adjustments on D.
Upset of the Week: Arizona over Buffalo – This is probably a popular pick this week, but it makes sense. The Bills are coming off their third straight 4th quarter comeback in St. Louis (yes, the Rams were winning to start the final quarter), while the Cardinals have given up 80 points in two consecutive losses on the road. Now they return to the desert hungry to remain atop the NFC West. Losing Boldin hurts, but the Bills will be without Terrence McGee. This may end up being the most exciting game this weekend.
Best Performance: Ryan Grant – With Aaron Rodgers suffering from a sprained shoulder, look for the Packers to hand the Falcons a heavy dose of their running game. Grant has struggled early this year, but this week he goes up against the league’s 23rd ranked rush defense.
Stay Away From: Frank Gore – After being embarrassed by Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, the Patriots are going to come out on a mission, especially after having to wait through their “bye week.” Gore seems back to his form from two years ago, but this match-up is simply just not in his favor.
