If you’re hopping for a drafty lottery miracle on Saturday, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
The Islanders hold the worst odds of winning the coveted number one overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. With a 0.9 percent chance of their lottery ball coming, the Islanders will likely remain at the number 15 slot for this year’s draft in Chicago.
The Islanders odds of moving into the top three are only slightly better, with a 1.0 percent chance of moving into the second overall pick and a 1.1 percent chance of getting the third overall pick, according to Sportsnet.
The Islanders seemed destined for a lottery pick in January before the team turned things around after Jack Capuano was fired in the middle of the month and replaced by Doug Weight.
The Islanders last held the 15th overall pick in the draft back in 2013 when they selected Ryan Pulock. The defenseman has appeared in 16 NHL games since he was drafted has four career points (two goals, two assists).
The Colorado Avalanche have the best odds at landing the first overall pick in this year’s draft, who is likely to be Nolan Patrick from the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. The Vancouver Canucks have the second best odds in the lottery, while Arizona and the Vegas Golden Knights both have the third best odds.
The NHL Draft will be held on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Toronto.
