Meanwhile, Brett Lebda looks unimpressed (or he’s thinking how many centuries he’d have to play in the NHL to ever reach that total himself).
Congratulations to Nicklas Lidstrom. This is truly an amazing accomplishment for the six-time Norris Trophy winner. With the career 1,000 points, Lidstrom becomes just the eighth defenseman in NHL history to reach the milestone and the first European defenseman ever. As the title of this post suggests, he is just the fourth player in Detroit’s illustrious franchise history to reach 1,000 points.
It couldn’t have come on a better night either, as he was in front of the hometown Hockeytown crowd who adore him and the Wings picked up a victory against a soaring team. Although, Detroit owns the Kings at the Joe in the past decade. I believe the record is 11-1 after Thursday night’s victory.
Wings remain at the Joe for a game on Saturday evening against the Colorado Avalanche, then they head west.
Go Wings, or get Kronwalled.
