Nigel Hayes was the headliner for a big contingent of Badgers who were named as academic All-Big Ten selections in a release by the conference on Wednesday afternoon. He was joined by three other basketball teammates, as Duje Dukan, Vitto Brown and Aaron Moesch were also named academic All-Big Ten selections.
In order to be named academic All-Big Ten a student-athlete must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
Eight men’s hockey players were named to the academic All-Big Ten team, with seniors Brad Navin and Landon Peterson leading the way. Also on the list were Adain Cavalini, Tim Davison, Corbin McGuire, Adam Miller, Jedd Soleway and Eddie Wittchow.
However, it was the women’s swimming and diving who led the way in academic All-Big Ten selections. That team had 11 ladies make the grade. Maria Carlson, Katie Delaney, Dana Grindall, Madeline Hazle, Rachel Johnson, Chase Kinney, Ivy Martin, Caroline Palm, Ashley Peterson, Aja Van Hout and Grace Wold all earned the honors.
Also making the grades were six of Barry Davis’ wrestlers. Frank Cousins, Andrew Crone, Gabriel Grahek, Brett Hochstaetter, Connor Medbery and Eric Peissig were put on the list.
