In the second period of last night’s game against Florida, Bolts’ defenseman Radko Gudas and Panthers forward Scottie Upshall renewed their acquaintance. There was talk that the Lightning’s bearded defenseman could be getting a call from the league and earn the first suspension of the young season. This morning NBC Sports reported that Gudas will not have a disciplinary hearing per an NHL spokesman.
But according to beat reporter Joe Smith, the Bolts defenseman was warned:
No hearing for @radkogudas for his hit on #Panthers Upshall, but Quintal called him to discuss play, let him know it was “close to the edge”

He was met by a high hit from Gudas that sent him sprawling to the ice: [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9u5b6xYqBOc] Following the warning, Gudas said, “It’s part of my game, I’m going to play the body, too. I don’t want to say guys should expect it. But this stuff happens.”
Scottie Upshall copmmented:
Upshall on Gudas, per #Panthers writers:”He said, ‘That’s what you get for squirting me with Gatorade’ when he went by. That’s pretty cheap”
