“We told them before the (Brooklyn Nets) game that they were off (Saturday),” Rivers said of Pierce and Garnett.
As for Bass, he is being held out as a precautionary measure after a right knee collision in the first half of Thursday’s win at Brooklyn.
“If it were a regular season game, he would have played tonight,” Rivers said of Bass.
No shocker there since we knew yesterday that we wouldn’t see much of the starters.
Darko is still nursing that wrist/thumb injury, but that doesn’t appear to be a huge deal either. He’s out today, but he’ll be fine for the beginning of the season.
The Celtics might get some more help for tomorrow’s game, as Leandro Barbosa will see time provided he passes his physical.
