No pitching + no scoring = 11-2 loss in Cincy

New manager Dale Sveum kept with his mission of change (uh, I thought that was the theme for the presidential race?).
First, everyone guessed that Manny Parra would get a start on Friday, to replace Seth McClung, who pitched in relief on Thursday…nope, Sveum moved Jeff Suppan up a day.
Then everyone thought that Parra would get the start on Saturday…nope, Sveum decided to move CC Sabathia up a day early.
The game? Suppan started…and, frankly, stunk–giving up 5 hits–including a pair of home runs–leading to 5 earned runs…in 2 innings. Parra then got his chance…and gave up 7 hits–including 4 home runs–and 5 earned runs over the next 4 innings. Brewers’ Bar’s official mascot, Annabelle the Fannabelle, is not worried about the Brewers’ chance…at least not yet anyway. Photo by David Hannes. The offense? They collected 10 hits…but all were singles. And the Crew left 10 runners on base.
Ray Durham left the game with pulled hammy…and it looks like Ben Sheets is going to miss a start now.
So, the wheels keep falling off…with the Mets win, the Brewers are now 2 games back of Philly…with 8 games remaining for each. To force a tie, the Brewers would need to go 6-2 if the Phillies play .500 ball. I hate to say it, but time has almost run out.
