No Status on McDonagh After Hit From Behind

Pat Leonard at the Daily News reports that while the Rangers didn’t have an update on Ryan McDonagh after the game, he did accompany the team on the flight back to New York.

…i guess it’s a good sign he was able to get on the plane with the team. We probably won’t get a report on McD until Monday as Rangers have tomorrow off.

As for the hit from behind on McDonagh from Andrew Ference, here’s what John Tortorella had to say (via Leonard)…

“It’s one of the most dangerous hits I’ve seen in a while. Nothing has to be said as far as what should be done.”

…we all know what should be done, but we all know it won’t as I’d be shocked if Ference gets more than three games.

Leonard also has this quote from Ryan Callahan on what it meant to score on the ensuing power play to win the game in overtime…

“You definitely want to make them pay for it. You want to score and make the penalty count, and we did.”

…would have been rock bottom for the power play not to convert there.

Joe Haggert of CSN New England reports that after the game Ference admitted after game he was coming in too fast and that led to “a bad result” with McDonagh injury.

Bruins coach Claude Julian added

“Andrew Ference is not a dirty player. He supports what league is trying to do with removing dangerous plays from the game.”

…yeah, he’s obviously not a dirty player. Eye roll.

…Jesus, could the Bruins announcers make any more accuses for this blatant hit from behind.
