Last night at the Wells Fargo Center, the Villanova Wildcats could not muster up enough magic like the Temple Owls did to upset the then #3 ranked Duke Blue Devils. The #1 ranked Syracuse Orange defeated the Villanova Wildcats 79-66.

For the Orange, most of their offense came from their bench. Leading the way was So. G Dion Waiters from Philadelphia, Pa. Waiters led all scorers in this game with 20 points, on 8 of 13 shooting, in 27 minutes.

For the Wildcats, the only bright spot was F/C Mouphtaou Yarou. Yarou had a double-double in this game, consisting of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jr. G Maalik Wayns didn’t have his best game vs. the Orange. Wayns had 3 points in 34 minutes. All of Wayns points came from the free throw line.

The Wildcats who are now (8-9, 1-4 Big East) will now travel to Fifth Third Arena to play the Cincinnati Bearcats (13-4, 3-1 Big East) on Saturday at 12:00 PM. The undefeated Orange (18-0, 5-0 Big East) will now go home to the Carrier Dome and play the Providence Friars (12-6, 1-4 Big East) on Saturday at 6:00 PM.
