Undefeated Florida State dropped to #2 in the AP Poll this week following a 24-19 victory over Florida. The Seminoles actually garnered the most first place votes in the poll with 29, but were three points behind Alabama.
Florida State remained second in the Amway Coaches Poll behind the Crimson Tide by just 18 total points. Alabama and FSU each had 28 first place votes in that poll.
Oregon, TCU and Baylor came in third, fourth and fifth respectively in both polls. The Ducks received five first place votes in the AP Poll and six in the Amway Coaches Poll. No schools other than Alabama, Florida State or Oregon received a first place vote in either poll.
Florida State remains one of four ranked teams from the ACC. The Seminoles’ ACC Championship opponent, Georgia Tech, ranks 12th in each poll while Clemson comes in 19th in each poll. Louisville is 20th in the Coaches Poll and 21st in the AP Poll.
With a win over Georgia Tech in Charlotte on Saturday, Florida State would almost be guaranteed a spot in the first College Football Playoff.
