Now that NFL Draft is over, What can Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans look forward to now?

hes-coming-2

All that pre-draft Jameis vs Mariotta was everything Bucs fans could look forward to since the Bucs stepped off the field as (forfeitures) losers to the Saints. But not thats all over, Jameis is a Buc, and took his pics in the Uniform. He has traded in Virginia Tech and Miami U for the Falcons and Panthers. But whats next? What do Bucs fans have to look forward to between now and First day of camp?

1)Picking up players that didn’t get drafted–  Back in the day the NFL draft was 12 rounds, and even back then you would get a steal in the last few rounds. Well today the draft is just 7 rounds and everyone else thats undrafted get to choose where they want to go. For most players an invite is all they get. Some players get a few invites and get to choose. Then again, a few like DE Ryan Delaire get money, a reported 15,000 dollar signing bonus, to sign up here. Here’s the list so far.

  • S Chris Hackett, TCU: First-team All-Big 12 selection led conference, tied for third nationally with seven interceptions.
  • LB Josh Keyes, Boston College: Four-year starter had 42 career starts, 16.5 career tackles for loss with Eagles.
  • LB Quinton Alston, Iowa: Had 94 tackles in breakout senior season, with six TFL and two forced fumbles.
  • DE/OLB Michael Reynolds, Kansas: Had 7 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss for Jayhawks in 12 starts as a senior.
  • CB DeShazor Everett, Texas A&M: Second on the Aggies with 73 tackles, including 16 in game against Arkansas.
  • DE Ryan Delaire, Towson: Had 11 sacks and three forced fumbles as a senior for Tigers.
  • DE Caushaud Lyons, Tusculum: Small-school standout led team with 89 tackles and 19 tackles for loss in 2014.
  • WR Rannell Hall, UCF: Nine touchdowns and 2,017 receiving yards over last 3 seasons for Knights.
  • WR Donteea Dye, Heidelberg: More small-school: Div. III receiver had 14 TDs, 1,022 receiving yards as senior.
  • RB Dominique Brown, Louisville: Good size at 6-2, 234 pounds; rushed for 1,203 yards, 12 TDs in last two years.

Rookie Mini Camp – May 8th  30 and growing expected- Each club can hold a rookie development program for a period of 7 weeks, which may begin on May 11th. No activities may be held on weekends with exception of ONE post NFL Draft rookie MiniCamp which is May 8th.

OTAs May 26-28, June 1-2, June 4th, June 8th-11: No live contact permitted per CBA. 7on7, 9on7 and 11 on 11 drills permitted.

Mandatory Practice June 16-18- article 22 of the CBA says clubs may hold one mandatory mini camp for veteran players.

June 19th-Players fully off until training camp to either train or vacation

TO BE ANNOUNCED sometime in June- Training camp. Last year the training camp schedule was announced June 10th.

NOTE: Doug Martin did not have his 5th year option taken by the Bucs. Why would they, he hasn’t proven anything, and there is probably no trade value for him at this time. The Bucs don’t lose anything, he simply will become a free agent March 2016, so the Bucs have until then to either Sign him, trade him, or let him go. Pretty much, nothing has changed, its like there was a time machine and they went back and changed his contract into a 4 year one instead of a 5 year one. Besides, usually the 5th year is the most expensive, that option is there for the team in case the player turns out to be Adrian Peterson.

Speaking of which…..
