The truth is the offensive line likely will be the source of speculation and predictions and a whole lot of guessing for not just OTAs, but until the first few preseason games, when some of this may finally begin to play out. Bill Polian spoke after the draft of putting the offensive line in a pot and seeing what shakes out, and that means extensive competition at the position for several positions on the offensive line.
How will the line eventually look? Who will start where?
Perhaps clues will develop over the next few weeks. It was during OTAs last off-season, remember, when defensive players talked extensively of a new, attack-oriented philosophy under then-first-year defensive coordinator Larry Coyer. Perhaps over the coming weeks there will come an idea of whether fourth-year veteran LT Tony Ugoh is pushing Charlie Johnson, or whether third-year veteran Mike Pollak is pushing Kyle Devan to regain the LG starting job.
It’s the interior of the offensive line that is perhaps the primary focal point. The Colts have struggled to run in critical situations the last two post-seasons, and one theory is that while the Colts could look relatively similar at offensive tackle, they could be at least somewhat bigger in the interior and therefore a bit better equipped for short-yardage situations.
