The Red Sox took on the Orioles in the last game in the series and were hoping for a sweep. Jon Lester was on the mound verses Chris Tillman for the O's. Lester had himself a quality start, but he gave up one too many runs and got a loss for himself and the team. David Ortiz continued to struggle at the plate going 0 for 4 with 2 Ks.
Jon Lester has looked like the dominating ace like person in his last few outings. Lester didn't look as sharp last night, but he still was able to get through the outing and give his team a chance. The Red Sox cracked the scoreboard first when Drew hit an RBI single in the 2nd inning to score Nava. Sox 1-0. Unfortunately the O's would take the lead in the 3rd when Manny Machado hit a 2 run RBI double. Sox 1-2. The O's grabbed another run in the 5th when Chris Davis hit an RBI double. Sox 1-3. The Sox got within a run in the 6th when Shane Victorino hit a solo HR. Sox 2-3. Lester was done after 6 innings and handed the game over to the bullpen. Matt Thornton pitched a scoreless 7th and then Brandon Workman pitched scoreless 8th and 9th innings. The Sox offense wasn't able to get a late inning rally going and ended up not being able to sweep the O's out of town.
