You won’t get any argument from me about Addai
The Colts’ offense is different now, more passing-focused now than even five years ago. Their philosophy with running backs is different, too. They’re less apt to have a 1,500-yard rusher no matter who the back is, and they seem to have settled on the approach that two solid running backs are a superior plan than one dominant player playing the position.
Addai, while perhaps not a 1,200- of 1,300-yard rusher, is overlooked by many analysts and observers because he rarely has 100-yard games. But in a sense, that’s similar to considering a defensive end weak just because he generate sacks. While sacks rushing yards are the glamor statistic for a running back in the same sense that sacks are the post-season-award-generating statistic for defensive ends, players can be effective at those positions without double-digit-sack or 1,000-yard seasons.
