The Bucs offense performed as good as it has all season, save maybe the Buffalo game
in preseason, the last game Jeff Tedford coached as Offensive Coordinator before abandoning the Bucs due to his health concerns.
I say abandoning after reading Scott Reynolds telling article last week on what really happened with the Bucs former OC. While most people have gotten over the fact he is gone, its clear Jeff Tedford will never coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, if any organization, ever again.
Health concerns are one thing, but leaving a team high and dry is another story. Without violating Hippa rules regarding privacy, PR.com was able to determine that Tedford simply didn’t feel like returning after he was cleared by doctors. His condition and situation is something other people have gone through before, and have been cleared to work by their doctors.
I can understand wanting to limit the amount of time, but no such request was ever given, he simply walked away and left a 34 year old QB coach to pick up the pieces. For those who criticize Lovie Smith for the performance of the offense, you couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Lovie Smith was quite agitated about answering questions regarding Tedfords return when everyone was expecting him back by then. Lovie knew the truth, he’d been abandoned by the guy he spent the year off with going over his offensive plans.
Marcus Arroyo has done an excellent job considering what he has to work with. They guy was NEVER brought in to call plays in the NFL, yet he has learned and the team is coming along offensively as the weeks have gone by.
If anything, the Bucs are now heading in an offensive system that would be in place at week 1, so where they go from here is anyones guess, but after what we’ve seen this season, anywhere they go will be up.
