Hey look, an offense!! It's about freakin' time the Angels hit and scored some runs. Add to that some Harry Houdini like pitching and, Voila!, the Halos get a victory. Now let's not get carried away; one win does not a division title make. However, there were a lot of positive signs to take away from tonight's game. Let the good times roll!!
Game Notes
— Let's start with the hit parade that including ever starter getting at least one hit. Peter Bourjos is starting to look very comfortable in the lead off spot and delivered the knock out blow in the eigth with a bases clearing triple. Peter's hitting is a huge key to this whole outfield experiment so his night tonight is Positive Sign #1
— Tommy Hansen pitched like he was walking a high wire all night. It is usually not good practice to put a lot of baserunners on against the Tigers, but Tommy wiggled and wrangled his way through 6 innings of shut out baseball. This is not how I usually like to live but at least he didn't give up runs. Positive Sign #2.
— The bullpen also decided to show up tonight. I am not a huge Mark Lowe fan and tonight did very little to sway my feelings but thank goodness for Sean Burnett who did solidy his standing as the first or second best reliever in the pen. Positive Sign #3
— Yes Torii Hunter returned to Anaheim and yes the Angel fans were very nice. He played for five years for the Halos and is a very nice guy but I think we can all move one now.
Halo Hero
How awesome is young Luis Jimenez. Dude has been with the team for two weeks and already he seems like the heart and soul of the club. Despite hitting ninth in the order, Lucho was the catalyst for the Halos offense by getting on base and scoring runs. Then he flashed the leather on defense saving a couple of runs when the game was close. His enthusiasm and energy is infectious. I can't enough of this guy. Absolutely Positive Sign #4!!!
