Contrary to Joe Buck’s commentary, Kyle Schwarber is not the only player to make a comeback in the World Series.
Danny Salazar made his 2016 postseason debut Wednesday in the sixth inning of Game 2 of the World Series against the Chicago Cubs.
Salazar, sidelined since September 9 with a sore forearm, was added to the Indians’ World Series roster on Monday after missing the first two rounds of the playoffs. Salazar, who sustained a strained right forearm a little more than six weeks ago, completed a three-inning simulated game on Sunday evening at Progressive Field. Salazar has ditched his curveball, which was giving his arm discomfort. He has been throwing strictly fastballs, changeups and sliders. Callaway said he topped out at 97 mph during the simulated game.
Tonight, he averaged 94.3 mph on his fastball and topped at 95 on the Fox Sports
An American League All-Star after a great first half of the season, Salazar struggled with injuries after the break. He finished the regular season with an 11-6 record in 25 starts, 137.1 innings pitched with a 3.72 earned run average. He averaged 10.6 strikeouts per nine innings.
He was lifted after one inning and replaced by Jeff Manship.
