Why I oughta…
This week there was a seismic shift in the Coug blogosphere as our intrepid leaders Sedihawk and Cougar Sutra/Brinkhater/Cletis/Couglakahn decided to retire from this here blog and leave us remaining yahoos to fend for ourselves. On Sunday night I went to bed as a junior partner in this venture, a new blood, an underclassman, an apprentice… on Monday I woke up to find that I am now the grandpappy old timey senior citizen elder statesman of the WSU Football Blog. The news hit me so hard that I spit my dentures right into my Metamucil. However, as sudden as this news may seem it has been in the works for some time and Sedi and Sutra have worked hard the last year to make sure that even after they moved on there would still be a WSU Football Blog for us all to gather at. Perhaps because of the experience of following our football program the last few years, they decided to reload instead of rebuild by bringing on board Lucas, Timmy, Tommy and Adam. The roster is now as full as ever, and each of these guys brings a unique and interesting perspective to our conversation.
In 2008 I was proud as punch that Hooty, Brinkhater and Sedihawk wanted to add me to their team, and today I am just as proud that they are willing to hand over the reins of the blog they created, nurtured and loved all these years to me and these young whippersnappers. For those of us who love to talk about the Cougs, this blog is our water cooler where we hang out, shoot the shit, argue, laugh and, of course, hydrate. As far as myself, Lucas, Timmy, Tommy and Adam are concerned, none of that will change. Sure, come basketball season our prognostications will no longer hover around 100% accuracy without the Sutra, and without Sedihawk around to keep our perspective sober, our wildest delusions may take flight unchecked. As Sedi would say, “it is what it is”. But while the Sutra and Sedi have been vital as both founders and leaders of this community, just as important to our blog has been all of you… our readers and commenters. I come here not just to unload my own thoughts, but because I am interested in what you all think. Your comments challenge me, inform me, infuriate me, cheer me up, calm me down and keep me coming back every day. So keep it up and I promise you this old blog will stick around.
And to Sedi, Sutra, Hooty and Rooster… thank you for this place. At the end of the day it makes us all better Cougs.
