With their third round pick in the 2014 draft the Angels have selected, you’ll never guess… another pitcher!
With the 88th overall pick in the 3rd round, the #Angels select RHP Chris Ellis from Ole Miss.

They went back to the college ranks here, but it is actually more of an upside pick than “safe” pick as Ellis only just converted from relief to a starter. That’s not usually how things work, but that does give him more projectability than would be normal for a 3rd round college arm and the Angels have something of a track record of being able to turn college relievers into starters (see Garrett Richards).
