Oline perspective

Johnny O offers some and says some kind words for us

1)The play of the offensive line. This has been a major topic this week, and with reason. The unit struggled this past week and not only was the running game less effective than it has been much of the season, quarterback Peyton Manning – while only sacked once – got hit too often in a 36-14 loss to San Diego. At least one of his interceptions was the direct result of pressure, and perhaps three. “With respect to the pass protection, we did not pass protect well at all,” Colts President Bill Polian said early this week. “There were too many instances of guys breaking free and pressuring the passer. I believe three of the interceptions were directly caused by that. In terms of the running game, we did not move anybody an inch in the running game. It was really frustrating, and I don’t blame fans for being frustrated about it.” Hard to say how much the area will improve this season, but it’s not absurd to think the offense can still be more productive even with the area struggling in some games. Health at the skill positions will help, and that’s what’s needed now.
