We’re back on the farm tonight and happy to be back as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers did a good thing today. Not only did they manage to beat the Clinton LumberKings, but they threw a combined no-hitter. Chad Thompson and Mark Williams combined for the 5-0 no-hitter victory that pushed the T-Rats record to 17-11 on the season.
What makes the feat even more impressive is that it was Thompson’s first ever start for the Timber Rattlers.
It’s not the first time the T-Rats have had a combined no-hitter, in fact the last no-no thrown by the team was a combined one by Jake Odorizzi and Adrian Rosario. It is the 6th no hitter in team history as well.
Thompson’s debut was five innings of no-hit baseball as he struck out six LumberKings batters. Williams came on to finish the final four innings to complete the history making moment.
Wisconsin got off to a great start as a team as the bats were alive early, scoring four of their five runs in the first inning and give Thompson a nice cushion that he didn’t need.
Tomorrow the T-Rats return home for a series with the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
