St. Louis. Houston. Home for one day, then to Chicago. The Pirates have some travelling to do over the next few weeks. Tonight, they try to get a little more justice for Charlie Morton than he’s gotten in his last couple starts. Morton’s got a 0.92 ERA in August, but the Pirates are just 2-2 in his four starts because of a complete and utter lack of offense. Tonight, he matches up with Edwin Jackson, who has not looked good since returning to the NL shortly before the trade deadline.
Best of all for the Pirates, having Alex Presley back means they can actually field a lineup that resembles a real MLB lineup. Their first five hitters tonight are Tabata, Presley, McCutchen, Walker, and Jones. That lineup can hit a little! That lineup might be able to score some runs! At least, I hope they can.
First pitch tonight is at 8:15. If you’re a night owl, I’ll be on 93.7’s Late Shift with Chris Mueller at 11 to talk Buccos, which you can stream here.
