One Man Wolfpack is ready for 2010

I have returned to the world of fantasy football under the team name of One Man Wolfpack.

I need a big year from Adrian Peterson if I hope to succeed in my return to fantasy football.

I had some trouble with my name. While One Man Wolfpack won out I was tossing around the names Johnny’s Bananas, Sex Panthers and Channel 4 News Team. Feel free to steal my team names.

I also found out how much it sucks having the first pick overall in a rotisserie draft. While getting Adrian Peterson was nice I missed out on a lot of talent waiting 22 picks to make my next selection. Here is my team breakdown:

QB: Carson Palmer/Kyle Orton

RB: Adrian Peterson/Ronnie Brown/Beanie Wells/Leon Washington/Donald Brown

If Brandon Marshall puts up big numbers my gamble on him won’t look so bad.

WR: Brandon Marshall/Pierre Garcon/Donald Driver/Jeremy Maclin/Eddie Royal

TE: Vinsanthe Shiancoe/Bo Scafie

DEF: New York Jets

K: Rob Bironas

I’m not too upset about the team. Peterson has me pumped but my traditional strategy of sacrificing top-end talent for an even roster may end up hurting me. Kyle Orton is not going to get much done for me, I have to hope Carson Palmer stays healthy and I only need Orton once.

I think I have good running back depth and the Jets defense paired with Rob Bironas will get me points each week. But it is at receiver where my draft position may have hurt me most. Drafting back-to-back (except in the first and last round) created opportunities to double-up on my draft board. But, that strategy also allowed for a lot of talent to get picked before me. I missed out on too many QBs before taking Palmer and most of the top-end wideouts were gone when I snagged Marshall. I just have to hope he clicks with Chad Henne.

I think my depth will help, particularly on the trade front and perhaps I will find a receiver by going that route. It all begins Thursday though, hopefully AP and Schiancoe rack-up some serious points for me in the season opener.
